This is the story of the birth of the newfound Chapter of Space Marines -
Wulfen

Long ago, in the final days of the Horus Heresy, the Space Wolves Legion of the Emperor's Space Marines routed the Thousand Sons Chaos Space Marines and chased them into the Eye of Terror. The order was given by the Master of the Space Wolves for the fleet to stop when the Thousand Sons entered the Eye of Terror, but the Lord of one Great Company, the 13th Company, led by Lord Wulfen, ignored the order. Eager to totally destroy the Thousand Sons, Lord Wulfen led his Company's ships into the Eye of Terror after the Thousand Sons.

In a desperate attempt to lose the Wulfen ships the Thousand Sons gathered together all of their Sorcerers and threw a great psychic attack at the Space Marine Fleet. The strain killed many of the Sorcerers, but was successful in killing or driving mad all but the most powerful of the Wulfen psychers, including the navigators, those who can "see" the Astronomicon. Then the Chaos Gods themselves seemed to strike at the Emperor's warriors, as a warp storm swept the fleet away. Without the navigators and the the Astronomicon, the fleet was lost.

Lord Wulfen ordered the fleet's TechPriests to pull the remaining ships of the fleet together and meld them into one huge ship. This ship was re-christened The Emperor's Will, for only faith in the Emperor and the great will of the Space Marines would see them home. The Emperor's Will became a generation ship as the Great Company searched for its homeland. For nine thousand years, the survivors and their descendants journeyed, fighting many of the alien enemies of the Emperor - Orks, Eldar, Tyranids, and Chaos, as well as many aliens yet to be encountered by forces of the Empire.

Finally, they came across a human-inhabited world on the fringes of the Empire. But their hails were not answered. The inhabitants thought The Emperor's Will nothing more than a Space Hulk filled with enemies, for everyone knew the 13th Great Company of the Space Wolves Chapter of Space Marines was lost long ago. The planetary defenses fired on The Emperor's Will, and ships were launched to intercept her. Rather than fight loyal servants of the Emperor, Lord Wulfen pulled back from the planet and set a course further into the Empire.

They came upon another human planet, but this time scouts were sent in a small shuttle to land covertly on the planet and somehow contact the Emperor. There they learned that many things have changed in the last nine thousand years, and so they contacted the current Master of the Space Wolves. Proving their identity through knowledge of the ancient Space Wolf rituals, they rendezvoused with a ship from the Fang. The Master decided to not announce the return of the 13th Great Company because of the splitting of the old Legions into Chapters long ago. Instead, they helped to re-equip the returned Marines with modern weapons, and logged them as a newly discovered Chapter - Wulfen Chapter.

The new Chapter changed its colors to a deep sea blue, representing the great sea of space they crossed to return home, trimmed with a deep red, symbolizing the blood lost by their ancestors and brothers on the journey. They wear no insignia, for they are the lost Chapter, and they have no need to identify each other, as everyone is well known.

There is still not a 13th Great Company of Space Wolves, because the Wulfen Chapter secretly fills that place. They meet at the Fang for Space Wolf events and rituals, and are recognized as true Space Wolves by the Chapter. Usually, however, the Wulfen Chapter lives in the great ship The Emperor's Will and fights the Emperor's enemies wherever they are encountered.
