Gruff Jenson

Not having the more human characteristics of his brother, Gruff was more or less left alone by the villagers. They took care of him when needed, but for the most part, he was on his own. He lived in a small hut on the very edge of the village, and most of his time was spent in the nearby forests. Evetually, the villagers came to know him, and even like his kind, simple-minded personality, but still he was mostly alone. Still, he took everything for it's best, and was usually very happy.

In his wanderings, he would always help whoever was in need. His help was usually met with apprehension, but was always appreciated once the work was done. Oftentimes, this help was in the form of fighting off bandits, or raiding Orcs, which understandably he and his brother had a great dislike for.

Unbeknownst to him, he had been singled out by Heironeous, and given the powers of a Paladin. He did not understand what he was, or even that he was different. He just knew he could make small hurts "feel better" and knew when people and places were "safe".

In his later adventures with his brother,  he met a Cleric and Paladin of Heironeous who were traveling together, and they took notice of his abilities and recognized the hand of Heironeous. The Paladin Uleisien Sloan tried to explain this to him, and gave him a silver holy symbol to carry, but Gruff was just hot getting it.

Later, he had occasion to work for the Temple of Heironeous on a great mission. Afterwards, the Speaker of Heironeous spent some time with him, teaching him and trying to get him to understand. The most he got from this was that he was a "Holy Warrior" and he proudly announced this to anyone, glad to have such a title.

The final revelation of his status came in a terrible way. He was struck down in battle, and in a (very) near-death experience, he was greeted by Heironeous, who granted him full knowledge of his position and abilities so that he could better serve the cause. After this, Gruff became the warrior he was meant to be, and continues to do Heironeous's work.
